Authoritarians Weapons – Religion
Warning: this post will have a good deal of negative sentiment about religion. In it we will post about how authoritarians leaders use religion as a weapon. Authoritarians have several pillars of support. This post concerns the use of religion. When a Religious dictatorship takes over, history shows it never ends well. They replace knowledge and facts with dogma and heresy. This has been historical an underlying cause of many countries failures.
We will also briefly look at the six types of dictatorships. Thus, we will also look at current and historical evidence on how religion is major weapon for them. Moving forward, we will also show the most difficult dictatorship style to over throw. So lets dive into this Authoritarian weapon.
The Six Types of Dictatorships
Six types of dictatorships exist. They are as follows:
- Military dictatorships
- Monarchy dictatorships
- Religious dictatorships
- Personalistic dictatorships
- Single party dictatorships
- and lastly hybrid dictatorships
Each of these dictatorships are defined by methods of power acquisition and maintenance. More on that later first we need to define each one and rank them by how difficult they are to deal with.
Military Dictatorships

This type of dictatorship is the easiest to understand. A military dictatorship is a type of dictatorship where supreme power is held and exercised by the armed forces. Military dictatorships are usually led by the commander-in-chief of the military or the leading figure in military junta. They are most often formed by military coups or by the empowerment of the military through a popular uprising in times of domestic unrest or instability. The military nominally seeks power to restore order or fight corruption, but the personal motivations of military officers will vary.
Example
Augusto Pinochet was a Chilean dictator who rose to power after leading a military coup that toppled the democratically-elected socialist government of Salvador Allende.
Pinochet’s regime was characterized by human rights abuses, state terrorism, and economic neoliberalism. He was believed to have been propped up by the United States and the CIA, despite the fact he was undemocratic.
Monarchy dictatorships

A monarchy is a government where supreme power is held by a single individual who typically reigns for life. This system relies on hereditary right, meaning the leadership is passed down through a family line. Not too many of them now days as the revolutions have made them fairly powerless and/or figure heads now days with very little power.
Single party dictatorships

A single-party dictatorship is a form of authoritarian government where a single political party holds complete control over the state and its citizens, with no meaningful opposition or challenge to its power. These regimes often feature repressive policies, limited civil liberties, and the suppression of dissent. They have several interesting features, secret police, murder, control of the media and long harsh prison sentences as directed by the central party.
Example: People’s Republic of China. China is governed by one party known as the Communist Party of China. Another example is Putin’s Russia. Putin slowly took over and used media to brainwash and control thought.
Personalistic dictatorships

We are seeing the rise of personalist “strongmen” authoritarian governments. Classic examples of personalist regimes include Saddam Hussein in Iraq, the Soviet Union’s Joseph Stalin, and the Kim dynasty in North Korea. They like to show themselves as strong powerful men.

Hybrid dictatorships
When you combine several types of dictatorships, like the Single party dictatorship with Personalistic dictatorship. Napoleon and Putin are good examples of hybrid dictatorships. In the past, Napoleon combined the Military dictatorship with a Personalistic dictatorship. Putin, runs his single party with combined a Personalistic dictatorship.
Religious dictatorships – Theocracy

Now we come to the point of this article. The most dangerous dictatorship and hardest to overthrow are Theocracy’s. They are using the word of God against you. The word theocracy originates from the Ancient Greek: θεοκρατία (theocratia) meaning “the rule of God”. This, in turn, derives from θεός (theos), meaning “god”, and κρατέω (krateo), meaning “to rule”. Thus the meaning of the word in Greek was “rule by god(s)” or human incarnation(s) of god(s).
These are the Religious dictatorships. They are built on myths. Most religions are built on myths. Myths are the most dangerous human flaw for humans to deal with. Currently, we have several very bad Theocracy’s run by Religious dictatorships. place. Number one on the planet is Iran. Ali Khamenei know as Ali Hosseini Khamenei (born 19 April 1939) is an Iranian cleric and politician who has served as the second supreme leader of Iran since 1989.

The History of Theocracy’s on our Planet
We have the papal state in Rome, we have had in western civilization several. Most notable was the Puritan theocracy in New England was marked by increasing religious pluralism. As more people came they lost control and eventually established a secular governance. That is how they are overthrown. It is never easy and often very blood!
Overthrowing Theocracies Part One what fails!
Theocracies can be overthrown through various means, often involving a combination of social, political, and military actions. AI suggest the following methods:
Popular Uprisings
- Public Protests: Citizens may organize mass protests against the ruling religious authority, demanding political reform or secular governance.
- Civil Disobedience: Nonviolent resistance can undermine the legitimacy of the theocratic regime, encouraging others to join the movement.
Political Change
- Reform Movements: Political groups may emerge to challenge the theocratic leadership, advocating for democratic principles and secular laws.
- Elections: In some cases, theocratic governments may be challenged through electoral processes, if they allow for free and fair elections.
External Intervention
- Foreign Support: External nations or organizations may provide support to opposition groups, including funding, training, or military assistance.
- Military Intervention: In extreme cases, foreign military forces may intervene to remove a theocratic regime, often citing humanitarian reasons.
Internal Conflict
- Factional Struggles: Rival factions within the theocracy may engage in power struggles, leading to instability and potential overthrow.
- Revolutions: A broader revolution can occur when various societal groups unite against the theocratic rule, often leading to significant changes in governance.
Overthrowing Theocracies Part Two – What will work!
What AI suggests will fail at a great loss of life. What works is the rejection of the religious dogma. Dogma has a structure built on myths. Good logic, can dispute the myths. For example, in the Jewish and Christian bible, we are given how the earth was created. However from science we now know the age of our planet and formation of solar systems via space and geologic sciences. In younger days, we took geology, evolutionary biology and hunted 330 million year old sea fossils in uplifted mountains. Islam claims to be peaceful, but the central figure was a war lord who killed people and waged war, lots of wars. Thus we need to look at the reality via science and history.
The big BUT is the religious dictators. They will yell “Heresy” and have laws to kill those who reject their “religion”. This is how they keep their power, via ignorance. Therefore they kill those who are artists, scientist and thinkers, over time their their country falls into ruin and poverty.
Hints for Success
So how do you take them out? Historically, a Theocracy suffer being replaced by a strong man personalistic dictatorship. The very idea of freedom is not found in the minds of the people. Consequently, what works to replace a theocracy eventually boils down to education. Change the education systems and replace it with myth busting logic. This takes time. Teach the idea of freedom.
Next, significantly boycott the dogma they spread. There are many creative ways to do this, bust the myths.
Lastly, isolate and slowly take out the flying monkeys and minions they use. Don’t join them except to find out who they are. Once, you know their control structure. Boycott these people, no food, bad food, exclusion work. A good model is the French resistance in WW2. Study history, it has many fine examples of how to weaken Theocracy leaders. They often have a difficult time finding a REPLACEMENT for the dear leader. Help create the Internal Conflict that brings them down.
Also study psychology, use psychology to heal yourself and recognize those who have Personality disorders.
Best Wishes.
